got a big tune up done on the teg......Had a JR MAP MOD installed.
Car is fine, untill you go INTO boost...It bogs and PINGS, like you wouldnt believe.......MAINLY in 1,2, and 3 gears.....4th and 5th seems OK, but not like it used to be.
As far as i know, the guy(that installed the SC way ago)went right by the manual that JR provides. Im taking it back to him tomorrow for some testing.
The car will run GREAT, OFF BOOST, but the second BOOST is incurred, it jus falls on its face, BABUHH BAAAB BUBUUUBHABBHHHH.. Then it KICKS in like it supposed to.....
While its "SPUTTERING" the A/F gauge is shwoing 3 greens, and all seems AVERAGE even at WOT(2 greens).
I tried leaning out BOTH FPR that i have(JR and B&M)Nothing really helped it. It does just seem that its dumping massive amounts of fuel into the car......because my GAS GAUGE SHOWS IT!
What tha hell is wrong?! If we cant get it to work right, im gonnna have him re-install the CLICKER RELAY...it worked fine, i dont know why i bothered changing it...
And to beat it all....i have HUGE race this weekend....
Please dont get TECHNICALL on me.....i know nothing of the install, process, all i can tell you is he WENT BY THE MANUAL. You can even see CHECK MARKS by the steps involved in the manual that he did. I do know that he tested it, like the JR MAP MOD shows in the manual......all voltages were right on the money.
So, please, any help is great,
Tony

Check the polarity of the MAP wires (green, green/red) and make sure they are each going to the correct end of the MAP signal output wire.
Also, make sure that he DID not follow the diagrams with respect to the numbering... in some of the pics, the numbers are read from RIGHT to LEFT. If you are looking at an ECU plug from the wire side, the numbers are ALWAYS from left to right.
BTW, If it wasn't for the fact that all FED-X planes are grounded, you would have your injectors and Cartech before the weekend. You may still get it on Friday... cross your fingers.

Question for you Jim...when doing the Map mod do you remove the original IAT mod that came with the charger??....did your mechanic remove it?

I had problems with the T-connector supplied with the kit. I'd lose power to the MAP unit and would get the results you mentioned. Recheck the wiring like Jim mentioned and make sure you have soldered connections to your ECU harness, not crimpped/tapped connections.

Well.....car still actin up. They wanted to keep the car again and run over everthing. Like i said, all voltages were "IN SPEC" to what was mentioned in the handbooks. Install quality was OEM equivilent IMO.
I took him for a test drive to show him the cars behavior.....and he mentioned it sounded like an ignition malfunction? spark plug? We pulled them and looked for cracks...nothing found, they look fine....(BKR7E-11's)
So, basically, i dont really care whats wrong, jus as long as its like it USED to be......if he cant get the car like it USED to be, i gave him the go-ahead to re-install the OLD RELAY....I need the car on SUNDAY to race.....BADLY!
So, keep your eyes open, i may sell this little 180$ thorn in my side.....

UPDATE:
Gave the car back to them to trace the problem. After trying numerous ignition modificatins....and misc. things....They called JACKSON RACING, and spoke with KIETH. They then went through EVERYTHING about the MAP MOD(installation/ohms/yadda yadda...)After disconnecting the MAP MOD, they re-installed the OLD RELAY system....Car pulled like a CHAMP!!!!!!
Come to find out(MURPHYS LAW
)i had a MALFUNCTIONING MAP MOD! Damn, jus my luck.....outta the bazillion that are sold....i get that one.
O well....with the JR THERMOSTAT(which was not OEM quality i was told by the TECH), water pump, timing belt, and an EARLY 90K tuneup(75K on the clock), the car runs absolutely fabulous!
And it may be HYPE, or just ME, but with the new THERO in, when i pop thehood after running her good, the motor is somewhat COOL! Theres no big HEAT RUSH, or anything....pretty nice IMO.
